What Are The Components Of Slot Car Racing Sets

Slot car racing sets should have everything you need to start your new hobby. The vehicles are called slot cars because they have a downward pin that sits in a continuous slot in the track. This slot guides the car around the track so that steering is not required. The slots provide electric power to the cars for propulsion. Slot car racing sets also contain all the electrical, controllers, track pieces, and of course slot cars needed for a beginner to begin racing.

Slot car racing sets are nothing without the slot cars! These cars are built to different scales, such as 1:24, 1:32, and HO scale. The slot cars are built and shaped like real racing cars to be aerodynamic and handle well. Each car in the slot car racing sets includes a tiny electric motor that is powered by the car's electric pin contact which sits in the slot. If you've never experienced the speed and excitement of slot car racing sets, you will absolutely be surprised at how fast the racing action is.

The race track is another important part of slot car racing sets. Most track pieces are flat or curved, and have at least two slots. The short pieces of track snap firmly together, with the slots from each piece matching the next piece exactly. The tracks can also be disassembled for storage or transport. Each car slot in the slot car racing sets is electrically charged to power the car. In most cases, the slots on slot car racing sets will keep the cars on the track. However, high speed turns or accidents on figure-eight tracks are likely to send cars hurtling off the track.

There are a few important electrical components to slot car racing sets. The first is a transformer that plugs into standard house current. It converts the strong house alternating current and voltage into weaker direct current to power the cars. Slot car racing sets also contain at least two pistol shaped car controllers. There should be one controller for each slot on the track. Each controller controls one slot in the slot car racing sets. If a slot car leaves the track, it must be placed back into the original slot of the slot car racing sets.

Those are the basic components of slot car racing sets. The slot cars, track, transformer, and controllers can get a beginner up and racing very quickly. There are many add-ons, upgrades, and advanced components that can be added to slot car racing sets. These can be expensive, and can even include custom-built slot cars. For the beginner, however, the basic slot car racing sets will provide years of entertainment for a reasonable price.
